Search Committee Responsibilities

Search Committee Chairs

Search committee chairs are responsible for spearheading recruitment meetings, inputting qualifications, disposition codes, identifying applicants for shortlist, finalizing interview itinerary and compiling interview notes.

  1. Complete required training
    All Recruitments - Online tutorial via the Learning Management System.
    Equal Employment, Affirmative Action & the Academic Hiring Process.

    Ladder Rank Recruitments - Online tutorial & in-person training.
    Promoting Faculty Diversity -  Completion of “Equal Employment, Affirmative Action and the Academic Hiring Process” is a prerequisite for attendance.
     
  2. Login to AP Recruit and click on the recruitment tab and then go to the applicants link.
     
  3. Manage Applicants
    • After reviewing each applicant, mark applicants as “Meets or Does Not Meet” qualifications
    • In conjunction with the Academic Affairs analyst, update the applicant’s status
    • Assign Disposition Reasons – this is necessary for ALL complete applications even those who do not move forward during hiring process
    • Comment on applicant(s); committee members are able to see each other’s comments – each reviewer should only make one comment
    • Recommend Applicant(s) for shortlist (i.e. interview)
       
  4. Participate in the interview process.
     
  5. Forward interview notes to Academic Affairs analyst.
     
  6. Finalize applicant disposition reasons, in order for Academic Affairs analyst to conclude recruitment.

Search Committee Members

Search committee members only have read access rights to a recruitment’s information. Members can review completed applications, comment and flag applicants.

  1. Complete required training
    All Recruitments - Online tutorial via the Learning Management System.

    • Review individual applications
      o    CV
      o    Teaching statement
      o    Diversity statement
      o    Reference letters

    • Comment on applicant(s); committee members are able to see each other’s comments – each reviewer should only make one comment.

    • Recommend applicant(s) for shortlist (i.e. interview).

  4. Participate in the interview process.
     
  5. Forward interview notes to Academic Affairs analyst.
     
  6. Finalize applicant disposition reasons, in order for Academic Affairs analyst to conclude recruitment.
